MAKIN041 – Sol Brown featuring Lady Alma ‘Your Time To Shine’

Makin Moves are proud to present an exciting new project to the label, the track is called ‘Your Time To Shine’, born in the UK produced by Sol Brown with vocals from US soul legend Lady Alma.

Sol has had a busy last few years going from dj to producer and is currently riding the crest of a wave following some notable releases on Phil Asher’s Restless Soul label and more recently on Groove Odyssey Records with Taliwa on vocals.

Since the label begun 3 years ago we’ve wanted to work with Lady Alma and after Sol submitted the track to us we had all had know doubts who we wanted on it and the rest they say is history!

We really love the energy in the track and Alma’s vocals just tack things to a new level, spreading positivity along the way. Already road tested by the likes of Joe Claussell, Louie Vega and Opolopo this one looks set to be in many a djs cd case for sometime to come.

MAKIN037 – Arnaud D ft. Rescue Poetix – Life

Fresh from his hot remix on Strictly Rhythm is Arnaud D, with his second release on Makin’ Moves entitled ‘Life’. The track features the awesome spoken word talents of Rescue Poetix from New Jersey, USA who you may remember performed on ‘Basement Stomp’ so it’s great to have both of these artists coming together for another release on the label.

Poet and singer Rescue writes this song from the heart of the dancefloor almost speaking through the speakers at you.. ‘Can you feel it, i can, can you see it, i can. Can you taste it, i can, the rhythm i see you feeling it on that dance floor. Let go, close your eyes, let it speak to you, life is music, music is life… When it finds you, that life, that music it breathes through you, music, becomes your breathe.

Jamesey and Matt have been playing ‘Life’ for the last 6 months at their events and seen people literally losing it on the floor with it’s combination of deep bouncy groove and haunting harmonies. It’s an instant head nodding track and has great cross over appeal to the deep house heads.

There’s four mixes for you to choose from and all warm up the floor nicely, expect to hear this played a lot over the summer and beyond.

All music composed, and mixed by Arnaud D (Arnaud D ALEO ) sacem

MAKIN034 -Gianluca Pighi & Massimo Paramour featuring Ahmad Larnes ‘Ever Stop’ (includes Terry Hunter Remix)

The collective of Gianluca Pighi, Massimo Paramour and Ahmad Larnes return again to the label for their third single release ‘Ever Stop’. These guys have certainly hit on a winning combination for us with their tight production and great song writing as the team have gone from strength to strength.

‘Ever Stop’ was actually first created in late November 2002! Paramour had just moved back to Italy having spent 3 years in NYC and he decided to invite his friend and former room-mate Ahmad to Pighi’s studio to start producing something together. The chemistry was quite incredible. After less than a week, they had written 5 brand new demo songs and the rest they say is history!  Thankfully after a meeting between Pighi and Makin’ Moves the tracks have been able to see the light of day and what awesome songs they are!!

Ever Stop is a really positive song mainly about music and life in general. Larnes spells out you only live one life and to make the most of it and to keep trying to do what you love and his love for music and what would he do without it.. ‘I just wanted to run away and be free to play, cause tomorrow i could not see, because life was just a game to me, it didn’t matter what tomorrow brings, as long as the day bought new joys to sing, i knew i be happy, so happy have you ever stopped to think about tomorrow if the music stops dont wallow in your sorrow take a chance on life you may win if you don’t succeed then you try again..’

There’s three mixes on the package, the original Deep Soul mix swoops in and immediately gets the hairs down the back of your neck twinging as the warm chords travel along and catch you with positivity and heartfelt vocals.

The broken mix, takes the song in a different jazzy/broken beat direction working sublimely with Larnes’s soulful vocals, a must for all soul fans.

Finally, Chicago’s man of the moment Terry Hunter drops a hot remix sprinkled with a delightful uplifting piano that works superbly with Larnes vocals and beats will sure to be played in many clubs this summer!

Chris Forman, the man behind Steal Vybe ‘The project was inspired musically and lyrically from past icons, the changing of times and life as we know it. Worldly issues abroad, and embracing the coming of the unknown…

‘The name of this EP was given and based off the different elements and styles of each track, hence the feel takes you back to the past and brings you to the present, while journeying to the future and imagining and exploring its” new prosperities to come…

I feel that our musical citation in each track has the essence of the past, while giving notice of the present forefront in music today, and taking and combing other genres and styles into the sound of the future to come…

Our latest release comes from Chicago’s Harold ‘Big Ed’ Matthews Jr aka Black Beat Niks who has had numerous hot releases over the years & Cardiff’s main man Justin Stride who have come together on this straight from the heart piece of soulful house featuring the vocal talents of Kym Franklin.

The song is very poignant and reminds us that even in times of real adversity we can use music to bring some positivity to our lives. Harold and Justin had been longtime friends and always wanted to work together, after Harold had come out of a low point in his life he wrote this song and together with Justin they were able to take the project to a new level.

MAKIN027 – Greg Gauthier & Alex Finkin featuring Miranda Nicole ‘Sure Thing’ (includes Loftsoul Remix)

This release has been a long time in the making, produced in Paris, sung in Atlanta and released on Makin’ Moves from London! This track not only has a great song, performed expertly by Miranda Nicole but also has a real energetic feel and groove to it, just in time for springtime and WMC in Miami!

We’ve always been big admirers of Parisian producer Greg Gauthier for years, going back to his first releases on KIF and Qalomata and always wanted him and latest studio partner Alex Finkin to do something for our label and boy have they not disappointed!

Getting the right vocal for the track was a must and Greg really wanted to work with Miranda Nicole having heard her amazing work with the likes of Ian Friday and Souldynamic.. Miranda hails from Atlanta, and is one of the most talented soul singers to come out of the city alongside the likes of Avery Sunshine. We sent her the track and she really loved it and wrote a perfect melody and the rest they say is history, the proof is in the pudding!

The package also includes a hot Loftsoul remix from Japan’s main man DJ Uchikawa who takes things a little deeper. Uchi is one of the pioneers of the deep soulful house sound in Japan regularly performing around the world and at his club in Kyoto.
