MAKIN028 – Neal Conway featuring Dana Weaver ‘Fading Away’ (includes Original & DJ Spinna Remixes)

Baltimore singer, songwriter Dana Weaver makes a welcome return to the Makin’ Moves label fresh and on a high following her hit ‘My Freedom’ with producers Souldynamic which recently hit number one on the Soulful Traxsource Top Ten chart! Dana first appeared with Phatfrank on our fourth release on the label ‘Hot’ which was a firm favourite at the Winter Music Conference in Miami in 2013 and looks like 2015 could be a very big year for this talented lady.

Here she returns with Neal Conway on production duties, Neal also hails from Baltimore the home of many influential soulful house producers. He started out DJing under the guidance of his mentor Thommy Davis (Basement Boy Music). From there, Thommy brought Neal into the Basement Boy family and was the member behind a number of early Original Basement Boy Production hits!

Last year Neal and Dana sat down and wrote some songs together. We were fortunate enough to hear this particular song in it’s original format as a nu soul track and we loved it so much we decided we wanted to release it with remixes. Some of you might spot the sample used, “Nothing Can Stop Me” by Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. (from the 5th Dimension)

Neal brings a fantastic uptempo soulful groove to his version and will certain warm up many a dance floor during these cold winter months! This release also features hot remixes from Brooklyn’s DJ Spinna who brings a real and bounce and energy to his mixes, already these have been a firm favourite with the likes of Louie Vega and Danny Krivit.

This release will be available as an exclusive promo from Traxsource.com on Monday 2nd March, full release on other digital stores from Monday 30th 2015.

MAKIN018 – Phil Hooton ‘Zanibar’

We welcome Phil Hooton from Leeds to our artist roster with an exciting new release ‘Zanzibar’ that he’s been championing for a few years now in his dj sets and has become somewhat of an underground anthem whenever he’s dropped it.

Since we picked it up this special track has been in heavy rotation in our sets at Makin’ Moves and it always grabs attention whenever it’s been played.

The release comes with three mixes, Main Mix, Dub and Spoken Drum Mix. The Main Mix takes us on a journey to Zanibar in Africa with deep drums and haunting organ stabs that give us a feel that we are there alongside the lion and tigers, particularly when the lion roars! The Dub also works equally well, with a hint of the classic ‘Plastic Dreams’ about it.

Phil didn’t grow up in a Southside church or cut his teeth at a Deep South Baptist revival, but to hear Phil Hooton’s music, you could certainly think so. From the UK, Phil Hooton gospel-tinged compositions and DJ sets have earned him the acclaim of Deep House pioneers from Glenn Underground and Kerri Chandler to Farley Jackmaster Funk, as well as Chicago’s Nu Bang Clan, which just inducted him as a member. Together with Phil Asher, Mr. Hooton has to be considered on anyone’s shortlist of the hottest UK producers on the scene today.

Following the success of the first package of remixes of ‘Ding Ding’, Makin’ Moves are proud to bring you the second package from Chicago deep house don Glenn Underground and rising French star Loic L.

Glenn was raised on a diet of disco classics and freeform jazz of 70s Chicago, where house music was born. Taking inspiration from pioneers Larry Heard, Ron Hardy, Lil‘ Louis. Glenn has produced some of the most respected deep house music for Cajual, Prescription Guidance and Peacefrog. The man is an astonishing and inspirational producer and we really like what he’s done to the original flipping it nicely to create a hot piece of US garage!

Loic Landi, a.k.a. Loic.L, was born in Bordeaux during the 80s. His passion for electronic music began during the 90s, with the rise of the techno movement. Only later did he take interest in House Music. It was his cousin, Hallex M, who helped him discover what true House Music was, over the course of numerous parties in Bordeaux.

Since 2010, he has been producing his first tracks in collaboration with his cousin under the label United Music Records. He draws influence from the Afro and Soulful styles of great producers like Osunlade, Black Coffee, Ralf Gum, Louie Vega and you can clearly hear these influences on his remix.
