Makin’ Moves All Dayer – Part 2 Sunday 26th May @ Canal Bar (inside Dingwalls)

Following our ram jam session last month at the Canal Bar inside the infamous Dingwalls in Camden we head back there for our next all dayer event on Sunday 26th May.

With no work again on the Monday the party vibes are going to be in full swing with the sun out as residents Matt L-S and Jamesey are joined by more of their friends for a 11 hour music extravaganza taking you on a journey through soulful house, deep house, disco and soul!

Joining us for this event are dj soulprovyder from 4 to the Floor, a great dj in his own right and the man that hosts one of the best Sunday parties in London. Also, making their Makin’ Moves debuts are Randy Peterson who has been at the top of the dj game for more than 20 years, also hosting his infamous “The Selection show” on London’s Housefm.net. He also had a release last year on the Makin’ Moves label called “No Better” so it’s been great to finally have him on the line up for a party.

Last but not least we also have Omotosho another top dj who has been doing some great things through the years, mainly doing guest spots art various parties but more recently started his “To the Rock” parties at Shoreditch Platform which have been getting great reviews.

It all looks set for a great event so hope you can come and join us!

We are proud to be associated with a fantastic live event featuring Josh Milan (Honeycomb music) and Angela Johnson both live on the same night at London’s Famous Jazz Cafe in Camden
Joshua Alexander Milan, is a Grammy Award-nominated multi-instrumentalist, producer and CEO of Honeycomb Music, LLC. With a career spanning over 30 years as both a founding member of the iconic house music group Blaze and now Honeycomb Music label owner and solo artist, Joshua affectionately known as Josh has positioned himself as one of the most influential virtuosos in the contemporary dance music industry.

With roots in gospel music, his journey into the world of music was innately divine. It is from this spiritual base that he approaches each project with a level of authenticity and originality rarely found in contemporary music.

It is safe to say that the best is yet to come as Josh Milan is committed to reinventing himself, endeavouring to stay relevant in an ever-changing industry.

Makin’ Moves 100th release party @ LP in The Curtain Saturday 6th April

London based record label and events company Makin’ Moves now into it’s 7th year celebrate their 100th label release with a exclusive free invite party inside LP on Saturday 6th April.

The Makin’ Moves team have worked with some of dance music’s most underground artists in the last 6 years including Chicago’s Peven Everett, Glenn Underground, to NYC’s DJ Spinna and Timmy Regisford to UK soul legends Lifford Shillingford and Omar to name but a few.

For their 100th release they have man of the moment Manoo from Lyon in France on remix duties. He’s also an awesome dj and for this special event will be flying into town to join Makin’ Moves resident DJs Matt L-S and Jamesey who will be bringing their unique soulful house sound to one of London’s best kept secrets, LP a very cool intimate 200 capacity club with chequerboard dance floor hidden inside the Curtain!!

As a dj, Manoo is undoubtedly one of the greatest talents and a rising stars of the French House community. Manoo built himself a strong reputation as a Dj in the late 90’s as resident of the Ambassade Club in Lyon in France. From early on the locals loved Manoo’s sets and it wast long before people from far and wide were coming to hear him. He now travels the world playing but still makes time to keep his residency at Ambassade club.

In 2001, Manoo took his first steps into production and started the Rodamaal project with his friends Alex and Rocco. Their first release “Love Island on Jazz-up Records was picked up by a lot of top djs. This furthered their reputation and led Ben Watt (Everything but the Girl) to sign them to his label Buzzin’ Fly Records.

In 2004-2005 more records followed with collaborations with Francois A and has since go not release his music on German label Innervisions and Ron Trent’s Future Vision imprint. Aswell as remixes on Quantize Recordings, MoBlack, Tribe, King Street and Kemet Soul.

Makin’ Moves, Soulmates, Londonhousemusic and HHA present….. 

Some of London’s longest serving house (and disco) promoters and djs come together for a special Christmas fundraiser for the homeless. 100% of door and ticket proceeds will be donated to Crisis and help more people to leave homelessness behind for good through Crisis’ year-round housing, employment, education and wellbeing services.

Please give generously, you know you will be well entertained with this this line up, deep and soulful house in room one and disco old and new in room two.

This month Makin’ Moves co-host the House Room with our good friends We Came To Dance aka Graeme P & SoulDiva! Matt & Jamesey will be fresh from their trip to ADE in Amsterdam and armed with the latest Makin’ Moves exclusive releases for you!

If you’ve not been to a We Came To Dance event, they are second to none! Initmate gatherings with only quality house music on the menu but also very social with great people and we look forward to joining forces with them for the first time!

Shapes x Makin’ Moves ADE Special @ 5 & 33 at the art’otel, Amsterdam Thursday 18th October

The Makin’ Moves team head to Amsterdam for their first ADE event at the amazing
art’otel on Thursday 18th October and what an exciting line up they've put together for this FREE event! 

The team is in great spirits after celebrating their 6th birthday in London last week at
House 4 Soul and are looking forward to joining forces once again with Shapes Festival
who invited us this summer to their greek edition in Zakynthos. Shapes hold fabulous
festivals across the year at beautiful locations such as Leysin in Switzerland in March,
Norway in May and Zakynthos in August. Shapes Festival director Franck Alfier and
Spyros Housemotion one of the main contributors to house music in Greece will bring the solid Shapes vibe to Amsterdam.

Following Makin Moves residents Matt L-S and Jamesey across the channel, will be
Jihad Muhammad from Bang The Drum New York, will take control of the decks. Jihad is
one of the top US House DJ/producer who runs Movement soul Records and has
released countless quality soulful house tracks. Also on the bill, we have DJ Carlito from
Amsterdam one of the weekly residents at 5 & 33 and then not forgetting we have one of the best female House DJs around Mikki Afflick who’s also a mean producer to boot
putting out some seriously dope records on her label Soul Sun Soul Music.
As a label Makin Moves is keen to push the best vocal talents around and we are proud
to welcome for her ADE debut, coming all the way from Chicago, Sheree Hicks, who will perform her biggest hits.

This all takes place inside the 5 & 33 venue kitted out with a state of the art sound system for this special event at the trendy art’otel.

Thanks to everyone who came out to our 6th anniversary at the weekend.. a great time was had by all! Special thanks to all the djs that played on the night, some great sets!  

Moving swiftly on to next month, Saturday 20th October we welcome two heavy weights to House 4 Soul!! Our very good friend DJ Jihad Muhammad from New York and singer sensation Sheree Hicks from Chicago!! 

Jihad hails form New Jersey and is on one of the best DJs on the planet, his sets are electric and mixing skills are second to none. He’s been in the music industry for over 40 years, brought up listening to great djs in NYC such as Timmy Regisford, Louie Vega. He has his own event Bang The Drum which he runs every month in New Jersey and also runs Movement Soul a very creditable dance music label.

He’s also been part of our Makin’ Moves HouseFM.net show every month doing a month segment so we know many of you are itching to see him live! We’re very excited to welcome him back to London as its been 4 years since we last had him over. 

Also, flying in from Chicago we have Sheree Hicks! This woman is one of the hardest working in the music in industry and has numerous hits on her music CV! Starting early singing in church she was picked up by Def Jam to make up a girl band at the tend age of 17! Since then she has gone on to write for the likes of Backstreet, heavy D and C&C Music Factory.

One rnb jam she wrote was remixed by Maurice Joshua and soon she working with all the best house music producers around town including Terry Hunter Josh Milan, Beloved Tennant, Jihad Muhammad, DJ Spen, Vick Lavendar, and of course Jihad Muhammad!

Sheree currently runs Chic Soul Music currently working with DJ Pope, Beloved, Sean Ali plus many more. 

She will be performing a PA of some of her hits over the years! 

We’ve also got some amazing DJs In the soul room and tickets are only a mere £5 at the moment!

This month the House Room is co-hosted by Makin’ Moves and Mi Casa As Su Casa crew! The joint event held back in April was pure fire and with everyone still raving about it we thought we’d link up and do it all again this summer!Makin’ Moves residents Matt L-S and Jamesey will be joined by Mi Casa regulars Mathew Ballester & Mickey richards (Sunday Vibes), and Mikki Funk (Plastic People Recordings) and DJ Dubois!

Martin Lodge is one London’s finest dj’s, with his versatile soul and soulful house sound you can catch him playing at the best soulful house events around including Southport Weekender Festival, Mi Soul Margate Festival and Deep into Soul. On the radio  he’s on mi Soul Radio every Monday evening 7-9pm and we look forward to welcoming him to House 4 Soul!
