Groove Odyssey @ Ministry of Sound Saturday 10th February

After an amazing 2017, Groove Odyssey returns to the Ministry of sound with the first of four parties for 2018.

The series kicks off on Saturday the 10th of February with a pre Valentine and album launch party. Headlining this event will be Grammy award winning and true Master at Work, Louie Vega, with his endless supply of exclusives, mixed with House classics – with full support from House legends Bobby & Steve, Jazzie B, Natasha Watts (live PA), Mike Risk, Martin Lodge, Peppe Citarella, Dj Bigger, Sol Brown, Davide Fiorese, Funkie P plus many more over four rooms of music. We will also be celebrating the release of Paris Cessvette’s hot new album “Celestial”, released on the 12th February on Groove Odyssey Records.

Saturday 20th January House 4 Soul & Makin Moves – Caring For Claire @ Omeara, London Bridge

Following our great collaborative party back in November, Makin’ Moves and House 4 Soul join forces once again to kick start your new year in full effect as we come together once again on Saturday 20th January at the amazing OMEARA venue in London Bridge!

Again there will be two rooms of fab soulful music for you and we’re proud to have room 2 hosted by some of the Caring For Claire DJ’s that are playing in the memory of Claire Tomlinson who we sadly lost to cancer in September 2016. Tuesday 9th January would have been Claire Tomlinson’s 37th birthday so we want to continue to keep her memory alive as she would have liked by playing her favour music and her favourite friends coming together to celebrate her life once again..

This years event funds went on a lovely memorial bench that was erected earlier this year and that many of you have visited in the grounds of St Pauls Cathedral so any funds that we raise on the day will go to towards the up keep of the bench and other cancer charities of the Tomlinson family choice.

Not only will Detroit don Alton Miller be in the house but also our good friends at R2 Records and all the 4TTF usual suspects to keep the dancefloor bubbling. A little background on Alton Miller:

Some of the labels he’s released on include: King Street Records, Mahogani, Planet E, Defected, Nitegrooves, Sound Signature and Octave Lab…oh yes, we’re pretty excited for this one.

Born in Chicago and raised in Detroit, Alton’s early roots in soul music led to an affinity for club culture that was the staple of the motor city and Chicago at the time.

Developing his DJing skills under the influence of house music’s founding fathers like Frankie Knuckles, Ron Hardy, Larry Levan and Timmy Regisford, he eventually opened his own dance club The Music Institute of Detroit with like minded friends Chez Damier and George Baker in 1988.

He is now one of the most respected producers, DJ, vocalist and percussionists on the scene today and will be playing an exclusive London set for your listening pleasure.

Makin’ Moves return to the upstairs part of Lighthouse (formally the Bedroom Bar) in Shoreditch on Saturday 28th October for our haunted Halloween party! For those who know about our previous Halloween parties, know that we don’t take any prisoners!This year residents Matt and Jamesey will be joined by Martin Lodgefrom Mi-Soul Radio and all the way from NYC making his first appearance in London for many years DJ Romain! Romain has recently released a new album ‘That’s How We Do It’ on Quantize Records and it’s been going down a storm and we can’t wait to welcome Romain to Makin Moves for his first gig with us!

Halloween outfits are welcome and there will be a prize for the best-dressed person!

Entry is FREE before 1130pm if you e-mail your name/names to info@makin-moves.co.uk before 27th October otherwise there will be a charge of £5.

Once you gain entry to the top floor you can move between floors where there will be RnB and hip-hop on the ground floor if that’s more your flavour.

Makin’ Moves End of Summer Terrace Party Sunday 24th September @ Cargo

Following our fantastic all day terrace party at Cargo in Shoreditch last month we head back there on Sunday 24th September for our end of summer event.

For this event joining residents Matt L-S and Jamesey inside the club for the latest deep and soulful house will be Baltimore’s N’Dinga Gaba who runs Global Diplomacy Records. N’Dinga has produced and worked with some of the best names around. He’s also a great dj and we look forward to welcoming him back to Makin’ Moves for this special event!

Outside on the terrace we are doing a memorial to the beautiful Claire Tomlinson who the music scene lost way too soon last September. Claire was a regular to Makin’ Moves and we have pulled out all the stops to put together a group of DJs that she really loved and were also her good friends to play some music and come together in memory of her life. DJ’s performing on the day playing soul, jazz, funk include Patrick Steele, Steve Harrington, L’il Stevie and Mi-Soul’s Martin Lodge.

Makin’ Moves head back to Cargo for their annual summer terrace party on Sunday 6th August… This event has been a roadblock for the last two years so make sure you arrive early!

Jamesey and Matt L-S our residents will be providing their unique brand of deep soulful house and laying down exclusive music from their label outside on the sunlight terrace. The boys will be joined by some of their London DJ friends djsoulprovyder (4 to the Floor), Graeme P & Souldiva plus more DJs and PAs to be announced shortly!

Three of London’s best known deep/soulful house promoters Makin’ Moves, 4 to the floor and Soultogether join forces this bank holiday weekend to bring you a special party to remember with DJ David Harness from Moulton Studios in San Francisco headlining!

This all takes place upstairs in the loft at the new LightHouse venue (formally Bedroom Bar) in Shoreditch on Sunday 28th May. DJ’s playing on the night will be Jamesey and Matt L-S from Makin Moves, dj soulprovyder from 4 to the Floor and Dave and Greg from Soultogether. During the day is the annual Soultogether boat party so this event will host the after party and we’re very fortunate enough to have David Harness from San Francisco in the house, this will be David’s first gig in London for 10 years and boy is it well overdue!

David has been producing and djing for over 25 years with an amazing discography of tracks and remixes to his name. Gigs-wise you can catch him playing weekly around the States and at his residency at The Mighty club in San Francisco. He’s also played at the Southport Weekender and recently remixed rnb/soul artist Zo! for the Makin moves label and the track has been a big hit this year!

The event kicks off at 9pm and we’ve got extended license til 5am so make sure you bring your comfy dancing shoes!
