Catch Matt and Jamesey next month spinning at Fuego a fantastic event hosted by our good friends from the Shapes Festival! It takes place on Saturday 16th October at the Colour Factory in Hackney Wick where the boys will host the garden!
We are back at Colour Factory for our last Fuego! of 2021 but this time we are bringing our full 16-stack sound system and inside! The garden will be hosted by our friends from Makin’ Moves. https://www.festicket.com/even
Inside, we’re buzzing at the idea of welcoming one of the most versatile producers in the game, Jim Coles aka OM UNIT. The Bristol-based beat-maker constantly pushes the boundaries of what is expected within the chosen style, be it ribcage-rattling dubstep, ambient soundscape work or drum & bass-led experiments which hark back to the Blue Note days. As a producer and DJ, Jim has been a significant and pioneering presence in various electronic music circles for the past decade.
Also super chuffed to welcome the one and only Ruby Savage. Ruby has worked for record labels Honest Jon’s and Sound Signature and has founded Wildheart Recordings. Her stewardship as label manager and primary creative director at Brownswood Recordings has been instrumental to the label’s growing success. Her personal exploits as a DJ have taken her to performing at clubs and festivals around the world.
Joining them on the night, the Leeds and legendary institution, Iration Steppas. Active for over 20 years as a sound system and production unit composed of Mark Iration and Denis Rootical. The pair first met in 1993 at a time when sound system culture and music in the UK was changing, from the militant vibrations of Jah Shaka towards a broader future that would encompass not only the roots of the music but also new interpretations. Iration’s own production style was nicknamed “Year 3000 Dub” in reference to its ability to straddle both the past and the future.
Also on the bill, Jamie Rodigan, who has become one of the UK’s most cherished selectors, from tearing up festivals to disrupting dancehall floors with his untouchable selection. Being the son of the legendary radio broadcaster Sir David “Ram Jam” Rodigan, music has played a pivotal role throughout his life. His eclectic DJ sets today reflect these musical experiences growing up. It’s not just Reggae that has formed Jamie’s musical education. He was exposed to a wide range of music from Rare Groove and House to Jungle and Garage.
If that wasn’t enough, Belly to Belly the collective specialising in late 70s, early 80s roots and dancehall played on original vinyl will be teaming with Community HiFi, the Sound System collective deeply rooted in the East London West Indian community. The powerful and veteran legend Ras Rim Bim will also join the party!
Outside, we have a very special treat! The house party outfit, Makin’ Moves, will bring some Deep, Afro and NY house grooves to the Colour Garden. Makin’ Moves residents, Jamesey & Matt L-S, have been an essential part of the underground London house scene for the last two decades. Also coming especially for this event, Housemotion, one of the main contributors to house music in Greece will bring the solid 4/4 vibes to the garden.
Pete On The Corner, Paskal, Tommy Castro and Frank is Franck will be rounding up this tasty line-up.
